This festival will be rumbling around our town in February. Pitchfork namedrops Vladislav Delay and others, while the official website gives only the following:
Moritz von Ostwald Trio (DE / FIN)
Czubala (PL)
Jacek Sienkiewicz (PL)

The festival originates in Portland, Oregon, where the preponderance of computers and frequent hoodie-friendly weather has created a rich underground electronic music scene.

Event: in/out fest

December is going to be a busy month. I was tipped off by Create Digital Music to the in/out fest at the Tank on December 12th. It will be a day-long event of workshops and performances. Workshops include Max for Live and Reaktor, and performances are audio and visual performances by some notable area players. I haven't been to the Tank yet, remarkably, but I will do everything I can to get to this event.

Event: Audion and Clark Warner

@ Le Poisson Rouge, Saturday Nov. 28 at 11pm

for more info click the picture to go to the LPR website.

Audion does dance music with some challenging sounds. You should check out Ghostly International if you haven't already.

Le Poisson Rouge is willing to reach out to some electronic artists that live in this space between headphone listening and dancefloor fodder. I'm sure I'll be pulling events from their calendar into this blog frequently.

Event: Felix Kubin at Santos Party House

Felix Kubin has been creating music for some 20 years. Being fortunate enough to have a recording setup as a teenager, he has actually released some of his early compositions on The Tetchy Teenage Tapes of Felix Kubin. His music reminds me of the usual heavyweights (Kraftwerk, Suicide) but also reminds me of an electronic Mr. Bungle in that mad circus way.

Santos Party House has the best sound system I have ever heard in any venue ever. Wear a belt and your most favorite underpants, lest your pants be rocked off.

He's performing on Tuesday, 24 November 2009. Found via Resident Advisor, click for the details.

what is it

Hi there. This is a blog about experimental, indie, underground electronic music. I don't like the word experimental applied too liberally to genres or works of art, because I don't know how to distinguish experimental works of art from surprising, groundbreaking, unique, or challenging works of art. There are any number of more descriptive words to apply.
My purpose is to cover stuff that I like, that somehow involves synthesizers, sampling, or otherwise combining humans, computers, and circuitry to make interesting music.
